General Audition Information:

Even though Ken Ludwig’s adaptation is a comedy, the core of his script is still Hound of The Baskervilles which is a tale of murder. As such there are some moments of violence, including simulated firearms, insinuation of non-consensual sex, and murder. This production is a comedy-forward production and will contain sexual innuendo and some comedically choreographed slaps but is free of kissing or intimate contact.

Auditions will consist of acting exercises which may include:

Telling a story and or a joke verbally

Excerpts from the script

Crowd Work

Character Work

If you need any specific accommodations to audition, please contact Director, Stephen Kadwell at sparky103@gmail.com, to make your request.

Characters:

Our goal is to have as much fun as possible bringing this show to life. The script for Ken Ludwig’s Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery is written in such a way that we are always aware that there are actors on stage. In light of this, the concept is to stage it as if it were a trunk show. This means that the roles that are being cast are those of the performers who are putting on the show. As such casting will be done with no regard for the multiple characters in the script and every role is open to anyone regardless of age, race or gender identity.

Player 1 - Any age, race or gender identity. Player 1 will portray Sherlock and some butterflies.

Player 2 - Any age, race or gender identity. Player 2 will portray Doctor Watson.

Player 3 - Any age, race or gender identity. Player 3 will portray predominantly male presenting characters including Stapleton, the villain. About 11 Characters.

Player 4 - Any age, race or gender identity. Player 4 will portray predominantly male presenting character including Sir Henry Baskerville and Lestrade. About 8 Characters.

Player 5 - Any age, race or gender identity. Player 5 will portray predominantly female presenting characters. About 15 Characters.

Stage Manager - Any age, race or gender identity. The stage manager will be the actual stage manager for the TCP production and also the character of the “Stage Manager” for the trunk show with time on stage where they are visible and acting in the production even though they will have no lines.
