Twin Cities Theatre Festival

2022 Summer Theatre Festival
Shows at Box Factory for the Arts, 1101 Broad Street, St. Joseph, MI

Picture
Scotland Road is a psychological thriller - a cross between Twilight Zone and The X-Files. The year is 1992. The crew of a Norwegian fishing trawler has picked up “The Woman” - a young woman whom they found sitting alone on an ice floe in the middle of the North Atlantic, dressed in 1912-era clothing. She has spoken only once, and then only to utter a single word: “Titanic.” Who is she? Why the elaborate charade? John Astor, great-grandson of the John Jacob Astor who lost his life on the Titanic, has contrived the means to interrogate her in secret and crack her story, force her to confess that she's a fake, and reveal her true identity. Scotland Road is a story of obsession, concealed identities, and an enigmatic and terrifying reality. Presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.

Cast: Christine Aranyos Prouty, Beth Kat, Steve Prouty, and Georgiana Spelvin
Co-Directors: Bob Myers and Candace Myers
Crew: Scott Bradford, lighting; Lloyd Bolick, set; Tammy Green, costumes; Susan Plee, Stage Manager; and, Matthew McCory, stage crew.

Women and War, a history lesson of sorts based on historical facts, presents a collection of stories told in letters and monologues by generations of American women impacted by conflicts, from the Great War to the first Iraq war.  Following women's journeys from housewife to worker, young bride to nurse, mother to widow, and now, young woman to soldier, these are tales of sacrifice, love, resolution and hope told by those who bravely persevere on the home front and on the battlefield.  The play brings to light the varying roles that women have played in all of America's 20th century wars. Presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.

Director: Peggy Harrington

Cast: Peggy Harrington, Hayden Boocock, Beth DeCoursey, Megan Hamel, Peggy Harrington, Kraig Kirkdorfer, Ilene Nemitz, Chase Samuelson, Sarah Simmons, Miranda Stepka, and  Kristen Wielenga.

The Belle of Amherst
by William Luce

Based on the life of poet Emily Dickinson from 1830 to 1886, and set in her Amherst, Massachusetts home, the play makes use of her work, diaries, and letters to recollect her encounters with the significant people in her life – family, close friends, and acquaintances. It balances the agony of her seclusion with the brief bright moments when she was able to experience joy.
Cast:

The Velocity of Autumn
by Eric Coble

Swirls around Alexandra, an 80-year-old artist in a showdown with her family over where she’ll spend her remaining years. In Alexandra’s corner are her wit, her volcanic passion, and the fact that she’s barricaded herself in her Brooklyn brownstone with enough Molotov cocktails to take out the block. But her children have their own secret weapon: estranged son Chris, who returns after 20 years and becomes the family’s unlikely mediator. A wickedly funny and wonderfully touching discovery of the fragility and ferocity of life.
