So how does Twin City Players pick a play to perform?
The slate of shows for each season is selected by a small group of people we call the Play Reading Committee. They review all the suggested ideas and try to pick the best slate possible. Based on what? Well we aim for variety to suit the broad tastes of our entire audience. We do at least one musical a year (but sometimes more) plus a mix of comedy and drama. Newer works and classics. Family friendly and a bit stronger stuff. Well known shows that everyone has heard of but also new works to show people something they haven't seen before. With decades of experience and scores of plays previously produced, we are always out for new ideas (though from time to time we also bring back things we did years ago).
Though we always welcome show ideas by themselves, there is a much better shot of it getting done if there is a specific person willing to take the lead on putting the work on stage (i.e. a director). We are always on the lookout for new directors as well, provided you have a reasonable amount of theater experience.
